Far Side Outer Right Close Center Far Center Foothill

Okay. One last post about the garden show, and I'm done. Be forewarned: I've got a bunch of photos here!
Garden Panorama: Monday Morning

Monday Morning
These photos are of the Cow Palace floor from near the main entrance. Directly in front of you as you enter is a garden with coral bark Japanese maples (that's the bright red tree) and peacocks in a large cage. To your right is a garden with young trees bent into odd shapes--a chair, for instance, or with a peace sign grafted into the trunk. To your left, a garden full of sculptures, some with neon lights embedded in them. Our garden is down the path on your left, third garden over (a small Moorish enclosed garden lies between the sculpture garden and ours).

Beyond our garden lies a Japanese garden (with colors that went amazingly well with ours), a garden with lots of stone ornaments, a Mediterranean arbor with a bright aqua wall, and a Victorian dollhouse. To the left of the peacock garden and directly across the path from our garden is an enclosed garden where water is collected from the gutters and used in the garden. Beyond it lies the "Sensuous Garden," dedicated to plants with fragrance or interesting textures to touch. Across a path cutting across the center island is a potter's studio, then a small moated patio. Down at the other end of the floor, across the path from the moated patio, is a large garden with blue and white tile and a large number of tall columns.

To the right of the peacock garden is a European street scene, complete with clothesline draped across the path that cuts across the center island. Across the path from it is a garden with a bright green picket fence and lighter green walls. Next to that garden is a small patio with low walls formed of broken concrete. This patio is next to the moated patio and across from the garden with all the columns.

On the right, beyond the garden with the bent trees is a woodland garden with orchids, then a garden that uses natives around a dry streambed. Beyond that along the right wall is a garden with dramatic arbor overhanging a bilevel patio centered on a waterfall fountain. Next to that is a garden with a number of large urns and sculptures. In the corner between the urns and the columns is the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden's garden, with a lot of interesting succulants and palms.
