To go with Harry's souped up new server, here's a souped up post: no graphics. Mostly means I'm writing this at 11 pm Monday night and I don't have time to futz with them, though. But see how fast this loads! I turned in another design project today: garden gates. Eight photos of gates I saw around town (okay, seven from around here and one from last year's trip to Vancouver), plus a gate I designed for my house. Most people drew their gates in pencil, then blueprinted them. I did mine in Photoshop and Illustrator, so it looks like it's already been built. Kinda cool design, too--it continues the arc created by a gate next door into a sine wave shape. With perforated metal peeking out in cutout slices and copper vines. One of the few asymmetric designs in the class. I'd show it to you, but like I said, it's late and I'm tired. Maybe I'll stick it in here later this week. The business practices class is heating up quickly. The big project there is a business plan for a real or hypothetical business. This week I've got to research the market and competition for my business...yikes. I wonder what size the landscape design market around here is, anyway? It's probably proportional to NASDAQ. My grandfather flew into town this morning, and my sister and Alex are headed into town tomorrow (assuming Alex is feeling better...she's had some virus with a rosey name...roseola? I'm not sure). I'm at class all afternoon, but I'm sure I'll find time to hang out with them at some point. We'd like to get Wayne's sister and our nephew Nolan down to visit Alex but who knows if we'll be able to organize that many people. Then there's the fun of this site--I think Jen picked the right week to move! No, actually, it's been kinda fun trying to juggle the server move and dealing with Our Favorite Spammer. Maybe we won't have to juggle that particular ball again. We can always hope. If you have any ideas on what we can do, contact me to get on the spammer discussion board. We need you! I don't say this often enough. I'm very thankful for all of you sticking with us and working to make this a fun lil' community. Thank you. All of you. Cheryl |
