Dang. It's 11:00 pm, I've got to do an Elgonquin upload, and for the third day this week, there isn't anything to upload. Of course, one of those days I should have been the one posting and I forgot until midnight the night before, so I can't really complain. *sigh* I think I'm reaching burnout. Well, three and a half years (including SFU) is a pretty good run as a writer, don't you think?

My sister is pregnant again (hope you don't mind the announcement, Janet!), so today I had the privilege of spending an hour playing with Alex while Janet went to the doctor. We wandered around a duckpond at an apartment complex ("No, Alex, we can't go up those stairs...somebody lives up there"), then went back to the doctor's office (hmm...I need a word for a building that's too small to be a hospital but bigger than an office or clinic--hospitlette?), where we discovered a bead game and a chalkboard in the waiting room, drinking fountains, stairs that could (and must!) be climbed and declimbed, and a most interesting vending machine that gave us dimes (that was funny--Alex would put the dimes in the slot, then push the coin return button, but sometimes we got more dimes back than we put in!). Alex has become quite the dictator--"NO, Ami, you stay at the bottom while I climb up! NO! Stay there!" Lifting her up for the drinking fountain and the vending machine probably didn't do much good for my messed up back--I've had a backache since Saturday morning--but how do you say no to a two-and-a-half-year-old?

This back thing has been really annoying. I can't turn over in bed without waking up first and figuring out how to do it without screaming or getting stuck. Sitting in front of the computer for hours is bad news (I'm standing now). I have a renewed respect for ice packs, ibuprofen, and hot showers. I went to the chiropractor today, and she untwisted the bottom half of my spine and set me up for another appointment to do it again in a few days. Fun. Actually, I don't mind chiropractic adjustments, somehow. But I like them better when I come out feeling better than I went in--this time my back's inflamed enough it didn't really relieve the pain. Back to the icepacks.

I spent a little while today browsing the Lord of the Rings movie websites. Looks pretty cool! Is anyone else looking forward to that movie series starting next Christmas?

Fourth week of school, and it hardly feels like it's started still. All I've done so far is learn the names of some junipers I've seen all my life (the MOST common landscape plant around) and plant some thyme stems for propagation class. Maybe it's not burnout I'm feeling, but the ole winter depression setting in--if even school isn't as much fun, that's a bad sign. Well, I'm still having fun in badminton.

I can't think of anything else? at all? exciting to talk about, so I think I'll quit before I lapse into true rambling nonsense.
