Epicon `98
Jas - April 22, 1998

Hello people!

I wrote a song about Epicon's Saturday night, but unfortunately I'm having trouble putting the words to the music and vica-versa, even though both are written. So here are the lyrics:

Down in the French Quarter
Gathered from far apart
We sang and drank to Epicon
At the Top of the Mart

They brought us Coke and Midouri Sours
While we chewed the fat
We sat there rotating 3 whole hours
Then it was 12am. . .

It was #20 and Ri
DJDave and Meloney
Jen-Jen and Victor and Me
After the rotation was over
We were still pretty sober
So we found another place to drink

Down on Bourbon Street
Walkin' a bit too far
We drank some MORE to Epicon
At the Suckers Bar

They sold naked yard-long daiquiris
To those who ventured inside
So we decided we would stay and sing a little while
Until they kicked us out - at 3am

It was #20 and Ri
DJDave and Meloney
Jen-Jen and Victor and Me
We were 7, but then
Mr. Crossbow strolled in
Where he finally found his MGD

Back at #20's house We gathered round the TV
Watching South Park and doin' Jello shots
Oh my god, they killed Kenny - You bastards. . .

That's when the posting started
For the Epicon update
It was Ri and Jen on #20's Mac
Then it turned 6am - in the morning

And that's when I fell asleep. . .
(Then Jen woke me up screaming "BEEF-CAKE"!!!!!)

But I digress, regress, or egress, I don't know. :)

Just some notes here:

  • The Top of the Mart is a rotating bar atop a building near the Mississippi river in downtown New Orleans.
  • The "naked yard-long daiquiris" are long, plastic versions of wine glasses that hold about a quart or two and can have several shapes formed into the wide vertical neck such as naked bodies of men and women. There are some examples in my photos.
  • And of course, as many of you may know, the "They killed Kenny" and "BEEF-CAKE" quotes are references are to the new cartoon hit, South Park.

:)
